Sports: Archery gone?!?

As Olympics and SEA Games moved on since the very beginning of sports, archery was one of event. Various schools in Philippines trained athletes in the sport of archery. I remember way back in High School, we had an area where contenders for the sport would practice when they have time. The school also participated in different sports event where archery was included. By the time I was 4th year High School, I noticed that archery was not practiced anymore. I just wondered with out really asking questions to why the sport disappeared or was discontinued.

Many Olympics and SEA Games passed by, and still, I often would hear announcements of winners for the archery event. And also, I noticed that nobody train athletes anymore for archery. Is it possible that archery is beginning to fade from the different events of sports here in Philippines? If yes, then how do we continue to appreciate the sport when nobody trains these kinds of athletes anymore? Archery is one of the growing sport in Scottish Universities and also in other universities around the world. I totally love and continue to appreciate the sport.

Learning the modern ways of archery could not be well appreciated and understood if not for the ancient(primitive) ways/history of this exciting sport. Archery was once the way how people were able to eat. It was used for hunting birds to feed one's family, to artillery used during wars, and ultimately down to as a sport. We should be thankful to these once-primitive-ways for the development of sport of today, the Archery.
