T'nalak Festival

The T'nalak Festival (July 18). This now one-week festival in South Cotabato celebrates with the provincial government the its foundation anniversary. There are other festivities in Koronadal City, South Cotabato such as the Hinugyaw Festival(January 3-10), Kawayan Festival(February 11 - 25) and Marbeleno Mardigas(October 10). T'nalak Festival features colorful parade participated by different schools in Koronadal City, cheer dance competition of the different participants (usually held in SMRAA), carnivals, street dancing(Madal Be'lan, Kadsagayan A Lalan and Kasadyahan sa Kapatagan Street Dancing Competitions), fireworks display and many more.

T'nalak Festival showcases the rich culture of people in the south of mindanao. With vast diversities of races and ethnicity of the people in the place, it did not act as a hindrance to the development and progress of the province. It's been awhile since I last experienced the fun and exciting T'nalak Festival. After migration to Davao, its almost 2 years since I came back to Koronadal City.

I remember the colorful parades during the first day of the festival, different ethnic groups would express in full-color
the celebration as it started. The fun continues in SMRAA (forgot what it means but for short its known as the "Sports Complex") where these participants engaged into a more serious competition, the cheer dance competition. Here you will experience the beauty and color of a dance that you would not expect from an ethnic group.

After the cheer dance competition, T'nalak Festival offers carnival for the kids and kids-at-heart and different accessories such as necklaces and bracelets made by ethnic groups at night near the municipal hall. Experience rides there such as ferris wheel and caterpillar (nope not the bug), popcorn and etc. The fun does not stop there, T'nala
k festival offers the ever-popular street dancing or "Disco sa Kalye" in Koronadal City. It marks the near end of the festival. This street dancing starts around 8pm and ends at around 2pm now. Back then, it was until "sawa" or until you can't feel your legs, so to speak. Different radio stations plays hip-hop, RnB, and disco songs up to the loudest levels. You'll be dancing to the beat in no time without even knowing it. You just have to let your legs lead the motions and your body to follow through. T'nalak Festival is one great festival to write in your Not-To-Forget list. Experience fun and enjoyment. Come to Koronadal City, South Cotabato and experience T'nalak Festival.
